A 35-year-old man in Ghaziabad was arrested on Sunday for allegedly causing the death of a 70-year-old woman during a confrontation with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. According to the police, the deceased's son, named Bijendra Kumar, had an argument with the accused, Majid, who resides in the same area. Officials stated that the woman, Ramvati Devi, stepped in to defend her son. Tragically, during the altercation, Majid apparently pushed Ramvati, causing her to fall and sustain injuries that ultimately led to her passing. ACP Abhishek Srivastava from Kavi Nagar explained that Bijendra lived with his family in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna in Madhuban Bapudham. The incident occurred around 12:30 am on Sunday when Majid, who works as an e-rickshaw driver and was reportedly inebriated, was sitting outside the Kumar residence. The dispute started when Bijendra questioned Majid's presence there. Hearing the argument, Ramvati tried to intervene to calm the situation. ACP Srivastava elaborated that during the confrontation, Majid allegedly pushed Ramvati, resulting in her falling and sustaining critical injuries. She was immediately taken to the hospital but was declared dead by doctors. Ramvati's body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station under various legal sections. The accused was presented in court and has been placed in judicial custody.
